What is Baldwin Brass Estate Hardware?

The Best of the Best. Baldwin's Brass Estate Collection series of door hardware consists of highly decorative entrance handle mortise locks, and a large selection of solid brass interior trim plates, levers and knobs in many finishes. Baldwin Brass Estate series entrance handles entrance sets all use full lock mortise bodies (as illustrated below), not modern separate tubular latches. If you click on the upper left area of the graphic below, it will take you to an in-depth illustration of a Baldwin mortise body. Not all doors can accept this type of door hardware.

In this illustration, you see the components that make up a Baldwin mortise lockset. Note the large lock "case" in the upper left. That is a mortise body, the key part of a Baldwin Brass Estate entrance set. It is that body which must fit into your door.
